
Digital Video Specialist : Academic Technology at Gallaudet
University seeks your help with identifying good candidates for a new position,
Digital Video Specialist, in the e-Learning and Video Services unit. E-Learning
and Video Services is a new unit, that combines the e-Learning group with the
group formerly known as TV and Media Production Services. We are looking for
someone who has extensive experience with digital video on the web and has a
passion for communicating visually.

Job #07067: DIGITAL VIDEO SPECIALIST, Video Services, salary
range: $35,200 to $63,400. Teaches faculty, staff, and students to produce digital
video and vlogs; supports institutional vlog development for university communications;
provides the technical expertise to develop ASL curriculum materials for academic
departments; provides technical assistance to the student-managed BISON TV channel;
produces video in 16x9 standard and high-definition formats for distribution
on the web, Gallaudet TV, and DVDs; supports scheduling and production of Apreso
Classroom Captures; participates in the production of webcasts and other live
video performances; transcodes video for digital playback on Gallaudet TV and
the web-based Gallaudet Video Library; provides training and support to student
workers; participates in the translation of ASL video to English text for captioning;
assists in the evaluation of new digital video technologies, including creation
and support of the Student Media Studio in the Sorenson Language and Communication
Center.
Requires: Bachelor’s degree in a discipline such as Digital
Media, Film Studies, TV Production or five-years of professional experience
in media and web video production. Documented evidence of experience with high-quality
digital video productions, including distribution on both DVDs and the web.
Experience with Flash programming and various digital video standards. Experience
with non-linear editing systems. Knowledge of video compression techniques.
Demonstrated evidence of creation of captioned digital video, including knowledge
of captioning standards for all digital video formats. Current expertise with
video lighting or willingness to learn. Fluency in American Sign Language.
