DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitors general consumer activity to observe and report behavior/progress and, when necessary, intervenes in problem situations.
1.1. Observes and monitors consumers' behavior in the course of daily activities.
1.2. Provides emotional support and encouragement to consumers in all activities. Refers in-depth concerns to appropriate staff.
1.3. Properly charts observations and incidents in accordance with program policies and procedures.
1.4. Intervenes and diffuses potentially disruptive situations according to established techniques and guidelines.
1.5. Reports disruptive or inappropriate behavior to supervisor in a timely manner.
2. Assists consumers with rehabilitation activities in one-on-one or group settings as assigned.
2.1. Models appropriate social interactions with other consumers, visitors, and staff.
2.2. Advises consumers about basic good manners and conduct.
2.3. Counsels/assists consumers, as appropriate, in daily decision-making and resolution of minor problems.
2.4. Assists consumers with meal preparation, table setting, and table manners.
2.5. May advise consumers about basic nutritional principles and simple menu planning. Teaches personal hygiene/self-care skills in an effective manner as needed.
2.6. Effectively teaches consumers skills in home maintenance, grocery shopping, money management, or related news.
3. Maintains accurate records.
3.1. Documents consumer activities and progress on appropriate forms with established procedures.
3.2. Completes incident and accident reports when necessary within established time frames.
3.3. Consistently complies with agency rules and policies on confidentiality of information.
4. Provides appropriate information to and/or participates in team conferences.
4.1. Assists with evaluations to accurately determine the functional level of the consumer.
4.2. Effectively works with other team members to develop appropriate goals and objectives for assigned prom consumers.
4.3. Assists with developing effective individualized plans for achieving established individual objectives.
4.4. Assesses consumers' recreational options and existing community activities. Plans and participates in recreation activities.
5. Assess consumers' recreational preferences by exposing them to a variety of appropriate activities and by discussing choices with them.
5.1. Assists in surveying existing community recreational activities and arranges for consumers to attend such integrated functions.
5.2. Fosters healthy relationships for program consumers by encouraging community leisure and recreational activities.
5.3. Plans recreational activities appropriate for program consumers.
6. Under close supervision, assists with provision of consumer support services, such as case management.
6.1. Assists in providing case management functions when assigned following established guidelines and time frames.
6.2. Assists in preparation and presentation of educational group lectures related to appropriate topics.
6.3. Participates in supportive guidance, staff supervision sessions, program planning meetings, consumer staffing and in service training.
7. Provides transportation for program consumers.
7.1. Operates vehicle(s) by following all safety laws and procedures.
7.2. Ensures ail vehicles are in-good repair.
7.3. Maintains current driver's license appropriate for the vehicle(s) being operated.
7.4. Ensures that first aid kits and fire extinguishers are properly stocked and operational in each vehicle.
8. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Prior direct consumer service delivery experience.
3. Twelve (12) months experience in a social service delivery program preferred:
3.1.1. Verifiable knowledge of behavior management/modification systems or programs is preferred; or,
3.1.2. Verifiable mental health, mental retardation, or substance abuse training through on the job training or formal classroom setting is preferred.
4. Certification in CPR, Standard First Aid, and Crisis Intervention Prevention (CPI) is desired.
5. Instructor qualification in CPR, Standard First Aid, and/or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) is highly desirable.
6. Certification as a QDDP or QMHP is highly desirable.
7. Valid Georgia driver's license.

Duties & Responsibilities: Under limited supervision, manages a team of professional and para-professional rehabilitation providers in a 24-hour Vocational Rehabilitation residential facility program. The facility assists people with disabilities to go to work and to become independent and self-supporting. Clientele consists of individuals with a wide range of disabilities - with an emphasis on those who are deaf and hearing impaired. Provides leadership, coaching, and information to team in determining program eligibility, appropriate services, and identification of expected independent living outcomes. Implements quality assurance standards in the team process. Supervises and participates in the development, marketing, and advocacy of services to potential clients, their families, and employers. Administers budgets, scheduling and training-related activities of the unit.
Minimum Training & Experience: Position Specific Qualifications:
Two years experience at a position equivalent to the lower level
OR
Bachelor Degree in a related area AND two years of supervisory experience in
a human service delivery program
OR
Master's Degree AND one year of supervisory experience in a human service delivery
program
OR
Related certification AND one year of supervisory experience in a human service
delivery program.
Note: Supervision of a graduate internship will be deemed equivalent to one year of supervisory experience. Some positions may require specialized certification.
Preferred Qualifications: Current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation
Counselor (CRC) by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification
(CRCC) AND three (3) years professional experience as a Rehabilitation Counselor
which includes one year of supervisory experience in a human service delivery
program AND an Advanced Level or higher on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview
or its equivalent (SLPI)
OR Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling or Counseling related
field (Counselor Education, School Guidance Counseling, Community Counseling,
Counseling Psychology, etc.) AND three (3) years of professional experience
as a Rehabilitation Counselor which includes one year of supervisory experience
in a human service delivery program AND an Advanced Level or higher on the Sign
Language Proficiency Interview or its equivalent (SLPI).
Note: It is the requirement of the person filling this position to obtain/maintain Certification from the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC).
