Schedule: Full Time- Monday to Friday 8:30 - 5:00 pm with the ability to flex

Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to increase employment opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing individuals by educating potential employers of the abilities of individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing; evaluating positions for existing and new business locating in Utah for good job fits for deaf and hard of hearing individuals; building and maintaining relationships with companies who currently have or may hire deaf and hard of hearing employees; conduct job readiness assessment and develop employment plans based on assessment; identify and disseminate opportunities for employment; provide career counseling; teach employment search strategies to consumers one-on-one and in group settings; coordinate employment plans with services providers. American Sign Language (ASL) skills are required.
Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those with a Master's degree and/or Bachelor's degree in a related field such as: vocational rehabilitation, vocational evaluation, psychology, sociology, social work, educational psychology, deaf education, behavioral sciences, communications, marketing, management or to individuals with job development, marketing, or sales as well as to those with relevant work experience.

Job Summary Under department supervision the faculty member will teach(including team-teaching) ASL, interpreting, and Deaf culture courses for the American Sign Language and Interpreting programs as assigned by the department chair. The position also includes the development of ASL and interpreting curricula; assessment of student ASL and interpreting competencies; possible coordination of the ASL tutoring program; provision of innovative teaching to meet the needs of a diverse student population; and fulfillment of traditional faculty expectations such as advising students, maintaining office hours, engaging in committee work, maintaining professional competence, participating in professional development activities, making presentations, and attending community and campus events. Other responsibilities may include supervising adjunct faculty, training and support, outreach, additional program development, tracking information and statistics, schedule assistance, efforts to seek out and apply for grant funding, and Program Advisory Committee work. Faculty member can be assigned to any SLCC location.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Master’s degree conferred by hire date.

2. Course work at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level in American Sign Language, ASL/English Interpreting, Linguistics, Deaf Education, or Deaf Studies required.

3. 1 year full-time (or 3 years part-time) experience teaching American Sign Language at the high-school or college level required.

4. Advanced or Superior proficiency in American Sign Language with demonstrated ability to converse fluently in high-level professional and academic conversation in ASL required.

Brief summary of duties:
Hands On Video Relay Services (HOVRS) is seeking candidates to be responsible for educating and training customers within their respective regions. A HOVRS Representative will educate and train customers on how to set up and use HOVRS features, options and various services. Tasks will also include; researching upcoming marketing events, participating in community events such as school or social gatherings. While at such events, the HOVRS Representative will provide attendees with information about HOVRS and our services. They will also be responsible for collecting data and information from these local events to be used within the marketing and outreach departments at HOVRS. Additionally, the HOVRS Representative will assist the marketing team in setting up booths at trade shows, schools and various events. The Representative may also be responsible for assisting Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing customers in setting up video products in their home; such as web cams, D-Link, i-Sight, and box top receivers. Training these new customers on how to place a video relay call through HOVRS will also be conducted by the HOVRS Representative.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Technical experience in the area of residential firewalls/routers is beneficial but not required
- PC and Macintosh troubleshooting experience are beneficial but not required.
- Fluent in ASL
- Previous telephone and written communication skills are required
- Excellent interpersonal skills to be used to develop and improve lasting relations with customers
- Strong decision making and problem solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Customer care focused
- Ability to work as a team player
- Demonstrate willingness to work a flexible schedule in order to meet customer's needs.
- Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Keynote presentation software preferred.
